The Department of Statistics of Bangladesh Bank mandates that all scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh submit updated SBS-2 and SBS-3 returns using a revised format starting from the April-June 2021 quarter. Banks must incorporate specific data fields such as Sector, Deposit Type, Purpose, Industry Scale, Product, and Security Code into Account Opening Forms and Sanction Letters, while also submitting historical data for two or three previous quarters. Upon completion of this retrospective submission, the existing SBS-3.1 and SBS-3.2 formats will be discontinued. Banks are required to generate this reporting data from their own databases and ensure accurate submission by experienced staff at branches and head offices.

Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer All Scheduled Banks operating in Bangladesh.
Dear Sir,
Regarding submission of information/data according to the updated format of SBS-2 and SBS-3 returns.
You are aware that this department has been publishing the 'Scheduled Banks Statistics' booklet by collecting and compiling multi-dimensional information/data on deposits and loans from all scheduled banks operating in the country through SBS-2, SBS-3, SBS-3.1, and SBS-3.2 reports on a quarterly basis. This collected important information/data is being used by monetary policy formulation of the country as well as by government/private institutions for important policy-making work. In order to introduce multi-dimensionality in the use of financial policy-making work and to meet the current needs of stakeholders, the existing SBS-2 and SBS-3 Reporting Formats have been changed. In this context, instructions are given to take the following steps for the purpose of submitting error-free information/data according to the updated format:
From the April-June, 2021 quarter onwards, information related to SBS-2 and SBS-3 reporting must be submitted according to the updated format.
Information related to SBS-2 reporting and SBS-3 reporting such as Sector, Deposit Type, Purpose, Industry Scale, Product, Security Code, etc. must be added to the Account Opening Form and Sanction letter according to the updated format.
Along with submitting information/data according to the updated format, information/data for two/three quarters of the currently existing format must be submitted.
After submitting information/data for two/three quarters, the currently existing SBS-3.1 and SBS-3.2 Formats will be abolished.
It must be ensured that information related to SBS-2 and SBS-3 reporting is prepared from the bank's own Data Base.
Arrangements must be made for the timely and accurate submission of the aforementioned details by experienced and skilled officers working at branches and head offices.
The updated format and necessary guidelines can be collected from this department.
This instruction is issued under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991, which will come into force immediately.
Yours faithfully,
