Dear Sir,

Subject: Regarding Allocation of OBU code for Bank Companies' Offshore Banking Units (OBU).

With the increase in economic activities, the operations of Offshore Banking Units (OBU) are rapidly expanding. To properly collect, compile, and store OBU data/information, the necessity of allocating an OBU code for each OBU has been observed. The following instructions are provided to ensure proper reporting of OBU data/information:-

  2. If an OBU ceases operations, the Statistics Department must be informed for code cancellation within 07 (seven) working days.

  3. Previously allocated OBU codes (including those allocated by AIPD) will remain valid.

  4. After obtaining approval for an Offshore Banking Unit, OBU codes for data/information submission will be allocated exclusively by the Statistics Department of Bangladesh Bank.

These instructions are issued with the approval of the appropriate authority.
