SDAD Circular Letter No. 10: Regarding approval of downtime of Citizens Bank Plc.

The Department of Supervision and Audit of the Bangladesh Bank has approved a temporary downtime for Citizens Bank Plc. to facilitate the transfer of its license from the Bank to the Bangladesh Bank. The suspension of banking services, including deposit, lending, internet banking, ATM, and RTGS/BEFTN transactions, is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, January 10, 2026. This action is taken pursuant to the powers granted under Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.

Subject: Approval of Downtime for Citizens Bank Plc.

Dear Sir,

  1. The Bangladesh Bank has approved the temporary downtime of Citizens Bank Plc. from 10:00 AM on Friday, January 10, 2026, to 11:00 AM on the same day, to facilitate the transfer of its license from the Bank to the Bangladesh Bank. During this period, the Bank's deposit, lending, internet banking, ATM, and Real Time Gross Settlement/Bangladesh Electronic Fund Transfer Network (RTGS/BEFTN) services will be completely suspended.

  2. This approval is granted under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
