The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka has amended the registration requirements for Investment Advisors to restrict the maximum number of attempts for the VIVA VOCE Examination to three. This policy applies to new candidates and reinstatement candidates, requiring those who fail to re-register for the certification program and pass all relevant examinations. The directive became effective on 1 February 2023 and covers candidates registered for examinations prior to that date.

The SEC writes pursuant to a Policy Decision taken to amend the existing Registering requirements of IAs. The new requirement is applicable to all below stated categories:
When obtaining the IA Registration;
There are no restrictions on the maximum number of attempts when facing aforementioned examinations for all candidates.

This Circular also applies to candidates who have registered for VIVA VOCE Examinations prior to 1st February 2023.
This Circular shall be effective from 1st February 2023.
