SECP Credit Rating Companies Regulations 2016

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan issued the Credit Rating Companies Regulations 2016 to establish a comprehensive licensing framework for domestic credit rating entities. The regulations mandate strict eligibility criteria, including minimum financial resources, fit-and-proper promoters and directors, mandatory technical collaborations with international agencies, and a 25 percent shareholding restriction for licensed financial institutions. Furthermore, the rules impose rigorous conflict-of-interest restrictions, operational duties, and compliance obligations while outlining clear procedures for license issuance, renewal, suspension, and cancellation.
