Licensees and registrants of the Securities Commission of The Bahamas must report any positive matches to the amended United Nations Security Council ISIL and Al-Qaida Sanctions List within 24 hours of this notice. Reports must be submitted to the Financial Intelligence Unit and the Office of the Attorney General, with confirmation sent to the Commission. Failure to submit required reports constitutes an offence punishable by a fine not exceeding $250,000.00, and non-compliance may result in disciplinary action including a minimum fine of $200.00 per day.
20 October 2025 Dear Licensee/Registrant: Re: International Obligations (Economic and Ancillary Measures) Act, Chapter 16 (IOEAMA): ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida Pursuant to section 3A of the International Obligations (Economic and Ancillary Measures) Act, (Ch. 16) (IOEAMA), licensees and registrants of the Securities Commission of The Bahamas (the Commission) are hereby informed that on 16 October 2025, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to Resolutions 1267 (1999), 1989 (2011) and 2253 (2015) concerning ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida, enacted the amendments, specified with strikethrough and/or underline on its ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions List of individuals and entities subject to the measures imposed by the Security Council resolution 2734 (2024), and adopted under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations as specified in the United Nations’ press release attached hereto. Please be advised that failure to submit the required reports constitutes an offence punishable by a fine not exceeding $250,000.00. Licensees and registrants who fail to comply may also be subject to disciplinary action including a minimum fine of $200.00 per day.
