Dear Sir,

Context regarding submission of NBFI-2 and NBFI-3 returns in the enhanced format.

Through Circular Letter No.-01/2022 issued on 12 January 2022, you were instructed to upload the quarterly Deposits (NBFI-2) and Loans (NBFI-3) returns on the Web Portal within the 20th of the following month, in accordance with the relevant Rationalized Input Template (T_ME_Q_DEPO_CLS_V2 and T_ME_Q_LNA_V2). Currently, in order to introduce multidimensionality in monetary policy decision-making by following international best practices, to meet the current requirements of the IMF, and to implement the National Financial Inclusion Strategy, it has become necessary to determine the actual number of total depositors and total borrowers, and the number of depositors and borrowers by age. Therefore, Unique ID and Date of Birth have been added to the relevant Rationalized Input Template (RIT).

2. In this regard, necessary steps are hereby directed to be taken urgently to add account-wise Unique ID and Date of Birth to the database, and to submit the existing NBFI-2 and NBFI-3 returns regularly to this department in the enhanced format starting from the January-March/2024 quarter.

3. This directive is issued under the powers conferred by Section 38(1) of the Finance Companies Act, 2023, and shall take immediate effect.

DATE_OF_BIRTH	Date of Birth for individuals should be in the format of "DD-Mmm-YYYY" but Date of incorporation for institutions & others it should be blank.
UNIQUE_ID	1. NID (N1992269755638****) or Smart Card (S148149****) for Bangladeshi individuals (anyone which is available), <br> 2. Birth registration no. for minors (B1995223244700****), <br> 3. Passport no. for foreigners/dual citizenship (P0182*), <br> 4. For any other public or private institutions except individuals (unique id should be blank).
