Suspension of PTA UAPTA Travellers Cheques by the Central Bank of Kenya

The Bank of Zambia notified all commercial banks that the Central Bank of Kenya suspended PTA UAPTA travellers cheque transactions effective 3 January 1995. Banks must immediately instruct customers not to carry these cheques when traveling to Kenya until further notice. This circular ensures domestic financial institutions comply with Kenyan monetary restrictions and mitigate customer foreign exchange risk.

SUSPENSION OF PTA UAPTA TRAVELLERS CHEQUES BY THE CENTRAL BANK OF KENYA

This serves to inform you that we have received official notification from the Central Bank of Kenya that they have decided to suspend transactions in PTA UAPTA travellers cheques effective 3rd January, 1995 until further notice. Your customers should be advised against carrying UAPTA travellers cheques when travelling to Kenya.
