20 DECEMBER 2023 UNAPPROVED 2024 FUND RULES OF RENAISSANCE HEALTH MEDICAL AID FUND The Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA) exists to supervise financial institutions and financial services, and to advise the Minister of Finance on matters relating to financial institutions and financial services in terms of the Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority Act, 2001 (Act No. 3 of 2001). In terms of section 31(1) of the Medical Aid Funds Act,1995 (Act No. 23 of 1995) (the Act), no alteration, rescission or addition to a registered medical aid fund’s rules shall be valid unless it has been approved by the Registrar of Medical Aid Funds (the Registrar) and registered under section 31(2) of the Act. NAMFISA hereby notifies the members of Renaissance Health Medical Aid Fund (Renaissance Health), and the public, that any increase in contribution rates in excess of 9.99% and amendments to some of the benefit limits have not been approved by the Registrar. The Registrar granted Renaissance Health approval for an overall contribution increase of 9.99% on 1 December 2023. The average contribution increase of 13.25% as communicated to the members and implemented with effect from 6 December 2023 for the 2024 financial year, has not been approved by the Registrar.
