SEC and CFTC Seek Public Comment to Clarify and Harmonize Derivatives Product Definitions

The Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission issued a joint request for public comment to update and harmonize derivatives product definitions and interpretive issues. The agencies aim to resolve longstanding ambiguities in Title VII of the Dodd-Frank Act regarding swaps, security-based swaps, and emerging products to ensure fair competition. The public comment period will remain open for 60 days following the document's publication in the Federal Register.
