BRPD Circular Letter No. 21: Extension of Banking Hour as well as Keeping the Bank Branches/Sub Branches Open adjacent to Qurbani Cattle haat under Dhaka South City Corporation, Dhaka North City Corporation and Chattogram City Corporation

Dear Sir, Regarding the continuation of banking activities during the holiday period, including normal banking, at various bank branches/sub-branches in Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas on the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Adha.

On the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Adha, a large number of traders gather at the Qurbani cattle markets operated under the supervision and management of Dhaka South City Corporation, Dhaka North City Corporation, and Chattogram City Corporation, and a huge amount of cash transactions take place. Consequently, the security of financial transactions at these markets is of great importance.

It is mentioned that various bank branches/sub-branches located at a distance from the Qurbani cattle markets continue to operate their regular activities. Traders dealing in Qurbani animals can take the help of the bank for their animal sale proceeds transactions by using these bank branches/sub-branches located near the markets. Furthermore, if the bank opens temporary booths at the cattle markets, animal traders can take the help of the said booths for their financial transactions.

2. In this context, you are advised to take the following measures: a) Select bank branches/sub-branches near the Qurbani cattle markets of Dhaka South City Corporation, Dhaka North City Corporation, and Chattogram City Corporation at your own discretion and continue banking activities during the holiday period, i.e., from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, from June 25, 2023, to June 26, 2023, with special arrangements at the said branches/sub-branches; and continue normal banking activities from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM at the said branches/sub-branches from June 27, 2023, until the day before Eid-ul-Adha; b) Make arrangements to establish temporary booths at the Qurbani cattle markets at your own discretion to ensure adequate security; and c) Provide special allowances to additional staff and officials performing duties at the concerned bank branches/sub-branches/booths.
