BRPD Circular Letter No. 27: Extension of Banking Hours and Keeping Branches Open Near Qurbani Cattle Haats in Dhaka South, Dhaka North, Chattogram City Corporations and Singra Paurashava, Natore

Dear Sir, Regarding the continuation of normal banking as well as banking activities during extended hours at various bank branches/sub-branches in Dhaka Metropolitan, Chattogram Metropolitan, and Singra Paurashava, Natore, on the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha.

On the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha, a large number of traders gather at the Qurbani cattle haats (cattle markets) operated under the supervision and management of Dhaka South City Corporation, Dhaka North City Corporation, Chattogram City Corporation, and Singra Paurashava, Natore, and a huge amount of cash transactions take place. Consequently, the security of financial transactions at these haats is of great importance. It is mentioned that various bank branches/sub-branches operate their regular programs at a distance from these cattle haats. Traders dealing in Qurbani cattle can avail themselves of the bank's assistance for their cattle sale proceeds transactions by using these bank branches/sub-branches located near the haats. Furthermore, if the bank opens temporary booths at the cattle haats, cattle traders can avail themselves of the assistance of the said booths for transaction purposes.

2. In this context, you are advised to take the following measures: 2.1. Select bank branches/sub-branches near the Qurbani cattle haats (lists of permanent and temporary haats are given in Annex-1 and 2) of Dhaka South City Corporation, Dhaka North City Corporation, Chattogram City Corporation, and Singra Paurashava, Natore, at your own discretion, and keep normal banking operations running at the said branches/sub-branches from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM at the said branches/sub-branches from 14/06/2024 until the day before Eid-ul-Azha, with special arrangements; 2.2. Take arrangements to establish temporary booths at the Qurbani cattle haats at your own discretion, ensuring necessary security; and 2.3. Provide special allowances to additional staff and clerks performing duties at the concerned bank branches/sub-branches/booths.
