Bangladesh Bank (Central Bank of Bangladesh) Head Office Motijheel, Dhaka-1000 Bangladesh Ref No.: BRPD Circular Letter No. 50 Banking Regulation and Policy Department 12 October 2023 Date: -------------------- 27 Ashwin 1430
Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer All Scheduled Banks Operating in Bangladesh
Dear Sir,
Regarding the observance of the '1 Minute Silence' campaign on the upcoming date of 15 October 2023 from 10:00 am to 10:01 am.
In recent times in Bangladesh, noise pollution levels are increasing due to the excessive use of horns in vehicles, the use of high-decibel sound systems/microphones at various advertisements, social, cultural, political, and religious festivals, and the use of high-noise machinery/equipment in construction work. As a result of excessive noise pollution, multi-dimensional health risks are emerging for humans. Consequently, there is a negative impact on the country's human resources and overall economy and development.
In this context, you are hereby instructed to direct all office and personal vehicle drivers of the bank to refrain from honking their vehicles between 10:00 am and 10:01 am on 15 October 2023, in order to successfully implement the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change's '1 Minute Silence' campaign.
This instruction is issued under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
Yours faithfully,
(Mohammad Shahriar Siddique) Director (BRPD) Phone: 9530252
