Bulletin 2729 - June 10, 2016

The Commissioner approved the application of The First Bank of Greenwich to organize a bank holding company named First Greenwich Financial, Inc., which will acquire all issued and outstanding shares of the bank. Additionally, Thomaston Savings Bank is authorized to open a full-service branch at 120 Farmington Avenue in Bristol, CT, with an opening date of May 31, 2016. Public comments regarding these applications are solicited in writing within ten days of the bulletin's date.

Perez, Banking Commissioner, Department of Banking, 260 Constitution Plaza, Hartford, CT 06103-1800.  Written comments will be considered only if they are received within ten days from the date of this bulletin.

Section 36a-145 of the Connecticut General Statutes requires certain applications for a branch, or for a limited branch at which loans will be made, address how the establishment of the branch will be consistent with safe and sound banking practices and promote the public convenience and advantage.  Plans are submitted when such applications are filed and are available for public inspection and comment at this Department for a period of 30 days.  Questions concerning branch activity should be directed to the Financial Institutions Division, (860) 240-8180 .

Organization of Holding Company

On June 3, 2016, the Commissioner approved the application of The First Bank of Greenwich , a capital stock Connecticut bank, to organize a bank holding company pursuant to Section 36a-181 of the Connecticut General Statutes that will be known as First Greenwich Financial, Inc. and will acquire all the issued and outstanding shares of The First Bank of Greenwich .
