Banks registered with the Central Bank of Egypt must deposit 10% of their customers' foreign currency deposit balances with the Central Bank. This deposit is calculated as of the last day of March each year and is denominated in US Dollars, with settlements occurring every six months on the last day of June and December. Banks are required to submit Form No. 1000 to the Central Bank within 15 days following the end of each six-month period to report the relevant balances.
The 10% deposit of the total balances of customers' deposits in foreign currencies is calculated as of the last day of March of each year with the Central Bank of Egypt, according to the following rules:
Banks registered with the Central Bank of Egypt must deposit 10% of the total balances of their customers' deposits in foreign currencies, with this amount due as of the last day of March of each year. This deposit is denominated in US Dollars, and settlements occur every six months on the last day of June and December of each year.
Banks must submit the required reports and disclosures to the Central Bank every six months between "Balances of Customers' Deposits in Foreign Currencies - 10% Deposit (Form No. 1000)" regarding the balances of customers' deposits in foreign currencies subject to the aforementioned deposit, by the latest date of the 15th day of the following month after the end of the six-month period.
This replaces the report and disclosure dated 28 September 1993 (Resolution of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Egypt dated 9 September 1993).
