The Central Bank of Jordan extends the validity of approvals granted to licensed money changers to open transaction lines in foreign currencies and precious metals with external parties until October 17, 2019, or until the issuance of systems and regulations under the Money Changers Business Law, whichever occurs earlier. This extension applies to approvals that were originally set to expire on April 17, 2019, and requires continued observance of Articles 20/d and 48/j of the Electronic Payment and Money Transfer System No. 111 of 2017. The directive is issued pursuant to the Board of Directors' resolution dated March 28, 2019.

Circular to Licensed Money Changers Subject: Extension of the validity of approvals granted to money changers to open lines for dealing in foreign currencies and precious metals with external parties

Based on the Board of Directors' resolution of the Central Bank dated 28 / 3 / 2019, which includes approval to extend the period for harmonizing the situation stipulated in the provisions of Article (31) of the Money Changers Business Law No. (44) of 2015 for a period of six months ending on 18 / 10 / 2019, while observing the provisions of Articles (20/d) and (48/j) of the Electronic Payment and Money Transfer System No. (111) of 2017, and following the approvals granted to licensed money changers to open transaction lines in foreign currencies and precious metals with external parties in accordance with the relevant prevailing legislation (including acting as agents for fast money transfer services), which expire on 17 / 4 / 2019 or until the issuance of the systems and regulations stipulated in the prevailing Money Changers Business Law, whichever is earlier, we hereby inform you of the approval to extend the validity of those approvals under the same conditions until 17 / 10 / 2019 or until the issuance of the systems and regulations stipulated in the prevailing Money Changers Business Law, whichever is earlier, while observing the provisions of Articles (20/d) and (48/j) of the Electronic Payment and Money Transfer System No. (111) of 2017.
