Commercial banks and their branches in Libya are required to enable the public to deposit withdrawn 50-dinar banknotes into their bank accounts, adhering to existing withdrawal limits and documentation requirements. Banks must facilitate account opening for citizens without existing accounts and comply with established regulations for deposits from local and foreign entities, as well as diplomatic missions. This directive implements Central Bank of Libya Board Decision No. 1 of 2012 regarding the withdrawal of the 50-dinar note from circulation.

In application of the provisions of Law No. (1) of 2005 AD concerning Banks, and in implementation of the role of the Central Bank of Libya in achieving stability in the general price level, and in supervising and monitoring banks operating in Libya,
And in addition to the decision of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Libya No. (1) of 2012 AD concerning the withdrawal of the first issue of the (fifty dinars) banknote from circulation.
And to the Issuance Department Circular of the Central Bank of Libya issued on 19 Safar 1433 AH Corresponding to 12 January 2012 AD, concerning the dissemination of the decision of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Libya No. (1) of 2012 AD, referred to above.
And positively to the conclusion of the meeting held at the Banking Supervision Department to proceed, on Wednesday corresponding to 11/01/2012 AD, attended by the General Managers of banks, to discuss the mechanism for implementing the decision of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Libya No. (1) of 2012 AD, referred to above.
Commercial banks and all their branches are requested to enable the public to deposit the (fifty dinars) banknote currency they hold, which has been decided to be withdrawn from circulation, into their bank accounts, while observing the controls organizing the deposit mechanism, according to what was agreed upon in the aforementioned meeting, as follows:
