Circular No. 3/10/1942 Regarding the Acceptance of National ID Cards with Discrepancies in Civil Status

The Central Bank of Jordan instructs banks operating in the Kingdom to accept National ID Cards even when the civil status recorded on the card differs from the data held by the Civil Status and Passports Department. This directive applies specifically to citizens whose marital status has recently changed but who have not yet obtained a new card reflecting that update. Banks are required to process transactions for these customers despite the discrepancy in civil status data.

His Excellency the Governor of the Central Bank

May Your Excellency kindly instruct the circularization to banks to accept the National ID Card in cases where the civil status differs between the card and the data linked with the Department.

Since the Civil Status and Passports Department receives visits from a number of citizens whose marital status (divorced or married) has recently changed, and who hold National ID Cards based on their previous status or their father's status, and the Department has not reviewed them for issuing a new card, and banks refuse to deal with the existing National ID Card due to the difference in civil status data.

Accept our highest regards,

Director General of the Civil Status and Passports Department Fahd Al-Amoush [Signature]
