Effective Monday, August 10, 2026, all Capital Market Operators (CMOs) must submit applications for specific services exclusively through the Securities and Exchange Commission's ePortal. These services include director appointments and removals, changes to sponsored individuals, branch office operations, and various administrative updates such as changes of name or address. The entire process, from submission to decision communication, will be conducted electronically via the ePortal. Applications for new entrants into the Nigerian capital market are excluded from this phase and must continue to be submitted through existing channels.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (“the Commission”) is pleased to inform the public, and in particular all Capital Market Operators (CMOs), that as part of its ongoing digital transformation initiatives to enhance regulatory efficiency, transparency, and service delivery, it will commence full Electronic Registration (e-Registration) through the Commission’s ePortal in respect of the following applications: i. Appointment of Director ii. Removal/Resignation of Director iii. Additional Function iv. Additional Sponsored Individual v. Exit of Sponsored Individuals vi. Transfer of Registration of Sponsored Individual vii. Change of Status of Sponsored Individual viii. Appointment of Acting Compliance Officer ix. Opening of Branch Office x. Closure of Branch Office xi. Change of Logo xii. Letter of Good Standing xiii. Change of Name xiv. Change of Address xv. Withdrawal of Registered Function or Registration of CMO Accordingly, with effect from Monday, August 10, 2026 , all applications relating to the above services shall be submitted exclusively through the Commission’s ePortal . The review, processing, approval, and communication of decisions in respect of these applications will likewise be undertaken entirely through the ePortal . Please note that applications for new entrants into the Nigerian capital market are not included in this phase of the Full e-Registration rollout. The Commission will announce the commencement of electronic processing of new entrants’ applications on the ePortal in due course. Until then, applications for new entrants shall continue to be submitted via registration@sec.gov.ng or through any of the offices of the Commission. All CMOs are advised to familiarise themselves with the ePortal and ensure full compliance with this directive to facilitate a seamless transition to the electronic registration process.
