Compliance with the Effective Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Instructions

The Central Bank of Jordan issued Circular 5665/7/4/9 on May 7, 2015, directing licensed exchange companies to fully comply with the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Instructions No. (2010/2). The circular mandates that these entities adopt all appropriate measures to ensure strict adherence to the instructions, citing risks associated with prevailing conditions in adjacent areas. This directive is issued pursuant to Article 14 of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Law No. (46) of 2007.

Circular to Licensed Exchange Companies Subject: Full Compliance with the Effective Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Instructions

In light of the Central Bank's commitment to mitigating the risks that licensed exchange companies may face, thereby contributing to the preservation of a sound and secure banking environment, and given the prevailing conditions in areas adjacent to the Kingdom and the risks they pose to the exchange sector, and based on the provisions of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Instructions No. (2010/2) issued pursuant to Item (4) of Paragraph (a) of Article (14) of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Law No. (46) of 2007 and its amendments, we emphasize the necessity of full compliance with the aforementioned Instructions and the adoption of all appropriate measures to ensure strict adherence to their contents.
