DECREE establishing the characteristics of a commemorative coin for the 500th anniversary of the founding of the first Villa of Colima

ANDRÉS MANUEL LÓPEZ OBRADOR, President of the United Mexican States, to all who read this:

Know that the Honorable Congress of the Union has seen fit to address to me the following

DECREE

"THE GENERAL CONGRESS OF THE UNITED MEXICAN STATES, DECREES:

THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A COMMEMORATIVE COIN FOR THE 500TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE FIRST VILLA OF COLIMA ARE ESTABLISHED

Sole Article.- The characteristics of a commemorative coin for the 500th anniversary of the founding of the first Villa of Colima are established, in accordance with what is provided in subsection c) of Article 2 of the Monetary Law of the United Mexican States, with the characteristics indicated below:

I.

Nominal value: $20.00 (Twenty pesos 00/100 M.N.).

II.

Shape: Dodecagonal.

III.

Diameter: 30.0 mm. (thirty millimeters).

IV.

Composition: The coin shall be bimetallic and shall consist of two alloys, one for its central part and another for its peripheral ring, as follows:

Central part of the coin: Silver-plated alloy, which shall be composed in the following terms:

a)

Content: 65% (sixty-five percent) copper; 10% (ten percent) nickel, and

25% (twenty-five percent) zinc.

b)

Content tolerance: 1.5% (one, five tenths percent) per element, plus or minus.

c)

Weight: 5.51 g. (five grams, fifty-one centigrams).

d)

Weight tolerance per piece: 0.22 g. (twenty-two centigrams), plus or minus.

Peripheral ring of the coin: Bronze-aluminum alloy, which shall be integrated as follows:

a)

Content: 92% (ninety-two percent) copper; 6% (six percent) aluminum and

2% (two percent) nickel.

b)

Content tolerance: 1.5% (one, five tenths percent) per element, plus or minus.

c)

Weight: 7.16 g. (seven grams, sixteen centigrams).

d)

Weight tolerance per piece: 0.29 g. (twenty-nine centigrams), plus or minus.

Total weight: It shall be the sum of the weights of the central part of the coin and its peripheral ring, which shall correspond to 12.67 g. (twelve grams, sixty-seven centigrams), and the weight tolerance per piece shall be 0.51 g. (fifty-one centigrams), plus or minus.

V.

The dies shall be:

Obverse: The National Coat of Arms, with the legend "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS", forming the upper semicircle.

Reverse: The design of the motif of this coin shall be that which, in accordance with the Second Transitory Article of this Decree, is determined by the Bank of Mexico. Said motif must relate to the 500th anniversary of the founding of the First Villa of Colima and shall include the denomination "$20", the security elements, the mint mark of the Mexican Mint "Mo" and the legend "1523-2023".

VI.

Edge: Discontinuous reeding.

VII.

Security elements: Latent image and microtext, on the reverse of the coin, which must be related to its motif.

Transitory Articles

First.- This Decree shall enter into force the day following its publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation.

Second.- No later than within 30 natural days following the publication of this Decree in the Official Gazette of the Federation, the Bank of Mexico shall determine the design of the motif to be contained on the reverse of the coin referred to in this Decree.

Third.- The coin referred to in this Decree may begin to be minted from 30 natural days following the date of approval of the design indicated in the Second Transitory Article of this Decree.

Fourth.- It shall be the responsibility of the Mexican Mint to make the technical adjustments required, which must be consistent with the essential characteristics of the coin described in this Decree.

Fifth.- The Bank of Mexico shall hold all copyright and any other intellectual property rights derived from the design and minting of the coin referred to in this Decree.
