DFIM Circular Letter No. 05: Preparation of Financial Statements

To, Chief Executive/Managing Director, All Financial Institutions operating in Bangladesh.

Dear Sir,

Subject: Preparation of Financial Statements.

Reference is invited to DFIM Circular Letter No. 11 dated 23 December, 2009 on the subject cited above.

In accordance with the instructions of the said circular, financial institutions are required to publish their financial statements, prepared in light of the First Schedule of the Bank Company Act, 1991, in one widely circulated national Bengali daily and one English daily newspaper, as well as on the company website, within one week of filing with the Bangladesh Bank. However, it has been observed that some financial institutions are publishing only the balance sheet of the financial statements in a single newspaper, which is not consistent with the instructions of the aforementioned circular dated 23 December, 2009.

In this regard, all financial institutions are directed to strictly follow the instructions of DFIM Circular Letter No. 11 dated 23 December, 2009 regarding the preparation and publication of financial statements. The Department must be informed within seven days of the publication of the financial statements.
