Regarding keeping scheduled bank branches open on 05th and 06th January 2024 to facilitate the payment of election expenses related to the voting activities of the 12th National Parliament Election.

Dear Sir,

In light of the Memorandum No.-17.00.0000.034.36.018.23(Part-7)-09 dated 03 January 2024 from the Election Commission Secretariat, the Election Commission Secretariat, Returning Officers, and various committees/officers related to the election have directed that, to facilitate cash withdrawals from banks for covering election expenses, a limited number of staff, after ensuring necessary security, will be deployed at the relevant branches of scheduled banks at the district and upazila levels, including Dhaka, Chittagong, and other major cities. Accordingly, the relevant branches of scheduled banks will remain open on Friday, 05 January 2024, and Saturday, 06 January 2024, which are their weekly holidays. However, instructions have been issued to not engage staff/officers assigned to voting committees or election duties in the aforementioned banking work.

These instructions are issued under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
