DOS Circular Letter No. 14: Conducting Banking Service in Limited Scale on 29 and 30 April 2022
The Department of Off-site Supervision directs all scheduled banks in Bangladesh to operate banking services on a limited scale on 29 and 30 April 2022 to accommodate increased cash transactions for Eid-ul-Fitr. On 30 April 2022, banking transactions are permitted from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM with subsequent ancillary work until 2:30 PM. On 29 April 2022, banking transactions are permitted from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM with subsequent ancillary work until 3:00 PM. Relevant Bangladesh Bank offices/departments will also remain open on a limited scale on both dates to facilitate cash transactions.

Reference is drawn to your attention to DOS Circular Letter No. 12 issued on 18 April 2022. Through the aforementioned circular letter, instructions were given to keep bank branches located in certain areas including Dhaka Metropolitan City open on 29 and 30 April 2022 in accordance with the Ramadan schedule mentioned in DOS Circular Letter No. 10 dated 30 March 2022.

Due to increased transactions in business and commerce on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr this year, the amount of cash deposits and withdrawals in the banking system has increased. In this context, for the convenience of the general public, banking operations will be conducted on a limited scale across the country with a limited number of staff on 30 April 2022 according to the following schedule:
Banking transaction time: 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM Time for conducting subsequent ancillary transactions: Until 2:30 PM.
- In addition, with partial amendment to DOS Circular Letter No. 12 issued on 18 April 2022, banking operations will be conducted on 29 April 2022 in the areas mentioned in the said circular letter only, according to the following schedule:
Banking transaction time: 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM Time for conducting subsequent ancillary transactions: Until 3:00 PM.
- Relevant offices/departments of Bangladesh Bank will remain open on a limited scale on 29 and 30 April 2022 for the convenience of cash transactions.
These instructions are issued in the public interest under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
