With reference to Public Notification No.- 36(2012-2015)/Import (Import Trade Control), dated-06/09/2015 issued.

The Office of the Controller General of Imports and Exports, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, has issued a Public Notification No.-36(2012-2015)/Import (Import Trade Control), dated-September 06, 2015 regarding salt import.

To ensure proper compliance of the instructions of the said Public Notification by Approved Dealer branches and concerned importers, a copy thereof is enclosed herewith for your information and necessary action.

Public Notification No.- 36(2012-2015)/Import (Import Trade Control)

This is to inform all concerned that the operation of Section 26(58) of the Import Policy Order, 2012-2015 regarding the prohibition of salt import is hereby suspended until 27/09/2015 and until 27/09/2015, 1 (one) lakh metric tons of Crude Salt (H.S. Heading No.- 25.01) is allowed to be imported under the following conditions:

Conditions:

(a) A salt mill owner shall establish a letter of credit for importing a maximum of 10 (ten) thousand M/T of Crude Salt. After establishing the letter of credit for salt import, the importer shall inform the Controller General, Office of the Controller General of Imports and Exports, 111-113, Motijheel Commercial Area, Dhaka in writing within 48 hours, along with a copy of the letter of credit and all information (IRC, Proforma Invoice, LC Form and copy of the Letter of Credit);

(b) The salt shall be shipped within 30 (thirty) days of establishing the letter of credit.

(c) Bangladesh Bank shall collect the information regarding the establishment of letter of credit for each day and urgently forward it to the Controller General, Office of the Controller General of Imports and Exports.
