FEPD Circular Letter No. 36: Regarding the issuance of a letter of credit for the import of narcotics and alcoholic products without a license/permit/no-objection certificate/prior approval issued by the Department of Narcotics Control

The Foreign Exchange Policy Department of Bangladesh Bank directs all approved dealer banks to refrain from issuing letters of credit for the import of narcotics and alcoholic products unless a license, permit, no-objection certificate, or prior approval is issued by the Department of Narcotics Control. This directive enforces a memorandum dated November 10, 2025, issued by the Narcotics-2 Branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. Subject: Regarding the issuance of a letter of credit (LC) for the import of narcotics and alcoholic products without a license/permit/no-objection certificate/prior approval (NOC) issued by the Department of Narcotics Control.

In this regard, the memorandum dated November 10, 2025, bearing Ref. No. 44.00.0000.194.22.001.22-62 issued by the Narcotics-2 Branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, is enclosed herewith for your information and necessary action.
