The deferred or usance period for importing Ophthalmic Medical Equipment, including Intraocular Lens, under supplier’s or buyer’s credit terms is extended from 90 days to 180 days. This change applies to Authorized Dealers in Foreign Exchange in Bangladesh and facilitates the import of these specific medical items. Other relevant instructions regarding these imports remain unchanged.

Please refer to paragraph 33(a)(5) and FE Circular No.11 dated 8th May 2018 in terms of which import of life saving drugs (certified/declared as such by Directorate General of Drug Administration) and Ophthalmic Medical Equipment including Intraocular Lens are permissible on upto 90 days deferred/usance basis under supplier’s/buyer’s credit terms. 2. To facilitate the imports of Ophthalmic Medical Equipment including Intraocular Lens it has been decided that the deferred/usance period under supplier’s/buyer’s credit is extended upto 180 days from existing 90 days. Other relevant instructions in this context shall remain unchanged. Please bring the contents of this circular to the notice of your concerned clientele.
