Authorized Dealers in Foreign Exchange in Bangladesh are advised to take initiative to establish banking relations with banks of Turkey. This directive responds to an agreement by the Bangladesh-Turkey joint commission to consider establishing direct banking transaction links through state-owned or suitable private banks to avoid routing remittances through third-country financial institutions.
(Translated in English) Foreign Exchange Policy Department Bangladesh Bank Head Office Dhaka. www.bb.org.bd 12 Asharh, 1419 FE Circular Letter No.-FEPD(EDG)/174/2012-13 Date:---------------------- 26 June, 2012 Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Head Office/Principal Office of All Authorized Dealers in Foreign Exchange in Bangladesh Dear Sirs, Ease of Banking Transactions. Attention is invited on the following paragraph of the protocol of the third session (agreed minutes) of the Bangladesh-Turkey joint commission: "Both sides stated that businessmen/investors/other citizens of Bangladesh and Turkey can not directly remit their foreign currency to each other. This remittance is always routed through third country's financial institutions, which cause unnecessary time consumption and transfer charges. In this regard, both sides agreed to consider establishing direct banking transaction links through state-owned banks/suitable private banks or other financial institutions on a priority basis." In this connection, this is advised to take initiative by the interested banks for establishing banking relations with the banks of Turkey. Yours faithfully, signed/- (Md.
