Dear Sir,

Import and Export of Currency Notes.

Pursuant to Section 8(1) of the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, 1947 (amended in 2015) and Government Notification No. F1(8)-EF/49 dated 2 May, 1949, the limit for carrying Bangladeshi currency per person upon arrival in Bangladesh from abroad and upon departure from Bangladesh has been raised from BDT 5,000/- (Five Thousand) to BDT 10,000/- (Ten Thousand) under the Bank of Bangladesh Notification No. FE-01/2014-BB and FEPD Circular No. 05 issued on the same date, January 30, 2014.

The Bank of Bangladesh Notification No. FE-01/2017-BB dated 15/10/2017 regarding this matter is reproduced on the next page.

2. The instructions contained in paragraphs 1 and 9 of Chapter 6, Volume I of the Guidelines for Foreign Exchange Transactions, 2009, shall be deemed amended accordingly.

Import and Export of Currency Notes

The Notification No. FE-01/2014-BB issued by the Bank of Bangladesh on January 30, 2014 (17 Magh, 1420) is hereby amended as follows:

The limit for carrying Bangladeshi currency per person upon arrival in Bangladesh from abroad and upon departure from Bangladesh has been raised from BDT 5,000/- (Five Thousand) to BDT 10,000/- (Ten Thousand).
