Foreign Exchange Transactions by the Units of Export Processing Zones (EPZs) in Bangladesh

FE Circular No. 24 Date : 05 June , 2017 All Authorised Dealers of Foreign Exchange in Bangladesh Foreign Exchange Transactions by the Units of Export Processing Zones (EPZs) in Bangladesh. Attention of the authorised dealers (AD) is drawn to the Para 24, Chapter 8, Guidelines for Foreign Exchange Transactions (GFET) 2009 (Vol-1) wherein industrial units operating in EPZs are categorised according to their ownership. 2. Besides industrial units, EPZ developers and different service providing units (water supply/treatment, dust management, cleaning, effluent treatment plant, etc.) may operate in EPZs to serve the industrial units therein. 3. To facilitate such developers/service providers of EPZs, it has been decided that EPZ developers and different service providing companies of EPZs, exclusively formed and registered to serve a particular EPZ will be treated as industrial units of EPZs. Similarly, existing foreign exchange regulations applicable for EPZ units ( as mentioned in GFET, FE Circulars, FE Circular Letters, etc.) shall be applicable for such entities also. 4. This FE Circular is issued under the authority of Section 20(3) of the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, 1947 (Act VII of 1947, amended upto September 09, 2015).
