The Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (Hanfa) mandates that pension funds investing in transferable securities must use Hanfa-recognized reference values or indices for their equity portfolio components. The guidelines define specific liquidity and market capitalization criteria for index recognition, including a list of approved domestic and international indices, and allow for custom index baskets with defined weighting rules. Pension funds are required to document their index selection, periodically review these choices, and disclose performance deviations and methodology details in their annual informational prospectuses. Compliance with these guidelines is required within three months of publication, followed by a notification to Hanfa.
