Circular Triq l-Imdina, Zone 1 Central Business District, Birkirkara CBD 1010 +356 2144 1155 communications@mfsa.mt www.mfsa.mt HRRF - Issuance of Draft Technical Documentation for Company Service Providers (CSPs) Further to its recent Circular, the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) and Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU) are issuing draft versions of technical documentation relating to the MFSA-specific regulatory returns for CSP’s and the FIAU Risk Evaluation Questionnaire (REQ). The documentation includes the taxonomy and associated technical specifications that will support the submission of these returns in the new JSON format. https://www.mfsa.mt/our-work/company-service-providers/ To access the documents, click on the main ‘Company Services Providers’ Icon, then ‘Home Grown Returns’ from the left side menu. These documents set out the structure, content and technical specifications for preparing and submitting the MFSA-specific regulatory returns and FIAU REQ in the new JSON format. The MFSA and FIAU recognise that transitioning to the new JSON format will require time and technical preparation. To support licence holders throughout this transition, we have developed a free to use “converter tool” to assist in converting existing returns into the required JSON format. Guidance on the use of the converter tool forms part of the documentation being issued. These draft versions of the technical documentation are being issued at the earliest opportunity to allow licence holders sufficient time to familiarise themselves with the new reporting requirements, assess any technical changes that may be required and begin preparing for implementation. The MFSA and FIAU will continue to refine the technical documentation, where necessary, as the implementation process progresses. Any updates will be communicated to licence holders ahead of the publication of the final versions, which is expected towards the end of August / beginning of September (although there is the possibility of further refinements / updates being required as a result of feedback from the seminars, external testing and other project activities etc…). As previously communicated, the MFSA and FIAU will be holding a seminar for the CSP sector on 15 September.
