The Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago issues the finalized Guideline for the Approval of New or Significantly Amended Insurance Products under the Insurance Act, 2018. This document applies to insurers registered under the Act and addresses issues arising during the approval process. The Central Bank has considered industry feedback received during the September 2023 consultation period to finalize these requirements.
April 02, 2024 CIRCULAR LETTER TO: Insurers Registered under the Insurance Act, 2018 Association of Trinidad and Tobago Insurance Companies REF: CB-OIFI-962/2024 GUIDELINE FOR THE APPROVAL OF NEW OR SIGNIFICANTLY AMENDED INSURANCE PRODUCTS UNDER THE INSURANCE ACT, 2018 On September 20, 2023, the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago (“Central Bank”) issued a draft revised Guideline for New or Significantly Amended Insurance Products under the Insurance Act, 2018 (“Guideline”) to the industry for comment. The Central Bank has considered all feedback received and is pleased to issue the finalized Guideline for the Approval of New or Significantly Amended Insurance Products under the Insurance Act, 2018 for your information. This Guideline seeks to enhance the transparency and efficiency of the product approval process for insurers registered under the Insurance Act, 2018 (“the Act”). The Guideline was revised to address issues and concerns that have arisen over time as part of the approval process, as well as, to ensure that it remains relevant in the current industry and consistent with the Act.
