Subject: Change of Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR)

Reference: Circular No. 01 dated April 09, 2020.

Under the Bangladesh Bank Order, 1972 (Presidential Order No. 127 of 1972), the minimum Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) for commercial banks has been reduced from 3.5% (three and a half percent) to 3.0% (three percent). The existing weighted average CRR of 4.0% (four percent) shall remain unchanged.

2. It has been decided that the minimum CRR shall be 3.0% (three percent) effective from March 05, 2025, while the existing weighted average CRR of 4.0% (four percent) shall remain unchanged.

3. This circular is issued under the powers conferred by Section 36(1) of the Bangladesh Bank Order, 1972 (Presidential Order No. 127 of 1972). This circular is issued for the information of all concerned, along with Gazetted Notification No. MPD-116/2025-302 dated March 04, 2025.

Notification

Under the authority conferred by Section 36(1) of the Bangladesh Bank Order, 1972 (Presidential Order No. 127 of 1972), the minimum Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) for commercial banks is hereby reduced from 3.5% (three and a half percent) to 3.0% (three percent). It is further directed that the existing weighted average CRR of 4.0% (four percent) shall remain unchanged.

2. This notification shall come into force from March 05, 2025.
