Effective December 15, 2010, all scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh must maintain a Cash Reserve Requirement (CRR) of 6.00 percent on a bi-weekly average basis, with a minimum daily provision of 5.50 percent. This requirement applies to their average total demand and time liabilities and supersedes the previous rate of 5.50 percent established by MPD Circular No-01 dated May 04, 2010.
Bangladesh Bank Head Office Motijheel, Dhaka-1000 Bangladesh Monetary Policy Department MPD Circular No- 04 Date: 01 December 2010 17 Ogrohayon 1417 Chief Executives All Scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh Dear Sir, Maintenance of Cash Reserve Requirement (CRR) with Bangladesh Bank Presently, as per MPD circular No-01 dated May 04, 2010 all Scheduled banks of Bangladesh have to maintain 5.5 percent CRR with the Bangladesh Bank on a bi-weekly average basis with a provision of minimum 5.0 percent on daily basis of their average total demand and time liabilities. However, in order to achieving the objectives of monetary policy, it has been decided that with effect from December 15, 2010 the above-mentioned CRR shall be maintained at 6.00 (six) percent on bi-weekly average basis with a provision of minimum 5.50 (five and half) percent on a daily basis.
