Norm on Regulation of Working Days for the Provision of Financial Services

This norm requires banks and financial institutions to obtain prior authorization from the Superintendent before closing on working days not designated as holidays. It mandates that such closures be communicated to the public at least five business days in advance via national written media and prominent notices at branches. Additionally, any suspension of services due to force majeure or fortuitous events must be reported immediately to both the Superintendent and the public.

RESOLUTION NO. CD-SIBOIF-371-1-AUG18-2005 of date August 18, 2005

The Board of Directors of the Superintendence of Banks and Other Financial Institutions,

Has issued,

THE NORM ON REGULATION OF WORKING DAYS FOR THE PROVISION OF FINANCIAL SERVICES, in accordance with the following:

Art. 1. Object and Scope This norm aims to establish that the closing of a bank or financial institution on working days must be previously authorized by the Superintendent.

Art. 2. Closing on holidays in accordance with the Law Banks and financial institutions may close to the public on national holidays of mandatory rest, on municipal paid leave days, and on those declared as leave by the Executive Power, all in accordance with the Law.

Art. 3. Closing on working days In the event that a bank needs to suspend public service on days not foreseen in Article 2 of this norm, it must have prior authorization from the Superintendent. Such closing must be informed to the public at least five business days in advance through a written social medium of national circulation, and through prominent notices in the customer service offices.

The suspension of services due to force majeure or fortuitous event must be informed immediately to the Superintendent and to the public.
