Notice No. 006/GGBM/95 of 28 February - Definition of Purposes and Amounts of Operations in Exchange Houses
The Bank of Mozambique waives the Foreign Exchange Form requirement for public purchases of foreign currency up to 5,000.00 UBD for specified purposes such as travel, studies, and publications. Exchange Houses must issue Foreign Exchange Registration Forms for these operations and are obliged to register all foreign exchange purchases. Operations exceeding the 5,000.00 UBD threshold or falling outside the listed purposes require a form issued by the Bank of Mozambique or its delegate. This notice takes effect on 1 March 1995.

NOTICE No. 006/GGBM/95
SUBJECT: DEFINITION OF PURPOSES AND AMOUNTS OF OPERATIONS CARRIED OUT IN EXCHANGE HOUSES.
Given the need to establish the regulations governing operations carried out in Exchange Houses, under Article 8, paragraph 2 of the Exchange Houses Regulation, approved by Decree No. 46/94 of 12 October, I determine:
Article 1
The presentation of the Foreign Exchange Form by the public is waived for the purchase of foreign currency notes and coins, traveler's checks, and credit cards up to the amount of 5,000.00 UBD, or equivalent, for the following purposes:
a) Travel abroad on official service; b) Travel abroad for medical reasons; c) Travel abroad for tourism; d) Studies abroad; e) Expenses related to fairs and other exhibitions; f) Film rentals; g) Contributions to international organizations; h) Subscriptions to magazines, newspapers, and other publications.
Article 2
The issuance of Foreign Exchange Registration Forms for operations for the purposes referred to in Article 1 shall be carried out by the Exchange Houses.
Article 3
Operations that exceed the amount referred to in Article 1, or that are not intended for the purposes referred to in items a) and h), may only be carried out upon presentation of the Foreign Exchange Registration Form issued by the Bank of Mozambique or by whom it delegates.
Article 4
Exchange Houses are also obliged to carry out foreign exchange registration in purchase operations.
Article 5
It is the responsibility of the Foreign Exchange and External Debt Control Department to issue further technical instructions regarding foreign exchange registration.
This notice shall take effect from 1 March 1995.
