Notice No. 008/GG/BM/93 of 1 October - Chart of Accounts for the Banking System
The Bank of Mozambique amends the nomenclature for accounts 41, 410, 411, and 419 to specify national currency designations and creates new accounts 412 and 413 for foreign currency demand deposits and mandatory reserves. These changes apply to the banking system to record foreign currency availability in other credit institutions and minimum foreign currency reserves imposed on banks. The notice was issued by the Bank of Mozambique on 1 October 1993.
BANCO DE MOÇAMBIQUE NOTICE No. 008/GG/BM/93 SUBJECT: CHART OF ACCOUNTS FOR THE BANKING SYSTEM
The Bank of Mozambique, pursuant to the provisions of Articles 54 and 94 of Law No. 28/91 of January 31, and Article 46(2)(i) of Law No. 1/92 of January 3, determines:
1 - Amend the designation of the following accounts: 41 - Deposits in Other Credit Institutions - National Currency 410 - Demand Deposits 411 - Mandatory Deposits at the Bank of Mozambique 419 - Other Deposits.
These shall henceforth bear the following nomenclature: 41 - Deposits in Other Credit Institutions. 410 - Demand Deposits - National Currency. 411 - Mandatory Deposits at the Bank of Mozambique - National Currency. 419 - Other Deposits - National Currency.
2 - Create the following accounts: 412 - Demand Deposits - Foreign Currency 4120 - At the Bank of Mozambique 4121 - In Other Banks 413 - Mandatory Deposits at the Bank of Mozambique - Foreign Currency.
3 - Scope of the Created Accounts 412 - Demand Deposits - Foreign Currency Records the foreign currency availability of banks deposited in other Credit Institutions in the Country. 413 - Mandatory Deposits at the Bank of Mozambique - Foreign Currency. Intended to account for the minimum foreign currency reserves imposed on banks in the form of deposits at the Bank of Mozambique.
