BANCO DE MOÇAMBIQUE NOTICE No. 009/GGBM/98 Subject: Creation of new accounts in the Banking System Chart of Accounts

With a view to better adjusting the Banking System Chart of Accounts to the recording of foreign currency overdraft operations and deposits with prior notice, the Bank of Mozambique, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by Article 54 of Law 28/91 of 31 December, determines:

1. The following accounts are created:

a) 243 - Overdrafts on Demand Deposits Intended to record, at the end of the month, the amount of debtor balances verified in demand deposits denominated in foreign currency. 2430 - State Enterprises 2431 - Cooperatives 2432 - Private Companies 2433 - Individuals

b) 526 - Deposits with Prior Notice - Residents in the Country Records national currency deposits received from residents in the country, taking into account the prior notice agreed upon at the time of their contracting. 5260 - Up to 30 days 52600 - State Enterprises 52601 - Cooperatives 52602 - Private Companies 52603 - Individuals 5261 - From 31 to 60 days 52610 - State Enterprises 52611 - Cooperatives 52612 - Private Companies 52613 - Individuals

The accounts designated 552 - Time and Prior Notice Deposits - Non-Residents and 559 - Time and Prior Notice Deposits - Residents, shall comprise, in addition to the balances previously contained in accounts 552 - Time Deposits - Non-Residents and 559 - Time Deposits - Residents, respectively, the movements related to deposits with prior notice.

c) 527 - Deposits with Prior Notice - Residents Abroad Records national currency deposits received from residents abroad, taking into account the prior notice agreed upon at the time of their contracting, namely those of emigrants. 5270 - Emigrants 5271 - Others

2. The following subaccounts are created: 096 - Sellers and Buyers of Forward Operations 0960 - Sellers of forward operations 09600 - Foreign Currency 09601 - Other Assets 0961 - Buyers of forward operations 09610 - Foreign Currency 09611 - Other Assets

3. The designation of the following accounts is changed: a) Account 552 - Time Deposits - Non-Residents, shall be renamed 552 - Time and Prior Notice Deposits - Non-Residents. With the following scope: Account intended to record time deposits and deposits with prior notice, expressed in foreign currency, in the name of emigrants and other non-residents.

5520 - Time Deposit 55200 - From 6 months 552000 - Embassies and Consulates 552001 - Foreign Companies 552002 - Emigrants 552009 - Other Non-Residents

4. New scopes are fixed for the accounts: 07 - Forward Operations Intended to record forward operations, purchase and sale of assets including foreign currency. 070 - Forward Purchases Records the purchase of foreign exchange and other assets, on a forward basis, carried out by the Bank. 0700 - Foreign Currency 0701 - Other Assets 071 - Forward Sales Records the sale of foreign exchange and other assets, on a forward basis, carried out by the Bank. 0710 - Foreign Currency 0711 - Other Assets

5. Final Provisions: a) Doubts that arise in the interpretation of this Notice shall be submitted to the Banking Supervision Department of the Bank of Mozambique. b) This Notice enters into force on November 30, 1998.
