SFD Circular Letter No. 01: Providing Training on SDGs and Financial Literacy to University-Going Youths under Corporate Social Responsibility Activities

The Sustainable Finance Department of Bangladesh Bank advises scheduled banks and financial institutions to conduct training on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and financial literacy for university-going youths aged 18-22 under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. The training must cover a specified curriculum over one day with five sessions, targeting a minimum of 120 beneficiaries per year across two batches, with at least 50% female participation. Beneficiaries are to be selected through nomination letters from the Deans of various faculties or Directors of institutes at universities approved by the University Grants Commission. Expenses for this initiative must be reported under the Education sub-sector of the Social Project category in the GBCSRD reporting form.

Dear Sir,

Regarding the provision of training on SDGs and Financial Literacy to the university-going youths with a view to make them contribute effectively in the economic development of the country under Corporate Social Responsibility activities.

Bangladesh Bank advises you to provide training on your own initiative under Corporate Social Responsibility activities according to the following training curriculum, with the aim of empowering the youth of the country in SDGs and Financial Literacy, in line with the Vision 2021 and Vision 2041 declared by the Government of Bangladesh and the Sustainable Development Goals Agenda declared by the United Nations.

Title: Financial Literacy for Youths in SDGs Implementation. Intended Beneficiaries: University-going youths aged 18-22 years. Minimum number of beneficiaries per day: 120 persons (at least two batches/intakes per year; at least 50% female in each batch). Method of beneficiary selection: Request for nomination of students through letters to the Deans of various faculties or Directors of institutes at universities approved by the University Grants Commission. Duration of training: 01 (one) day. Number of sessions: 05. Session titles and brief descriptions: Attached as Annexure 'A'.

It is mentioned that you are hereby instructed to show the expenses related to this under the Education sub-sector of the Social Project (Category B) in the reporting form issued through GBCSRD Circular Letter No.-06 dated June 10, 2015.

These instructions are to be implemented immediately.
