SGDB No. 052/2014: Central Bank of Bolivia Participation in the Electronic Clearing House

The Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB) became a participant in the Electronic Clearing House in December 2014 to facilitate the remote sale of securities to individuals via its web system. Financial institutions participating in the clearing house are required to accept electronic transfer orders from individuals in favor of the BCB for the settlement of these purchases. The circular provides specific data fields, including the beneficiary account number format and contact details, necessary for processing these ACH transfers.

FROM: GENERAL MANAGEMENT MONETARY OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT FINANCIAL ENTITIES MANAGEMENT TO: PARTICIPATING ENTITIES OF THE ELECTRONIC CLEARING HOUSE SUBJECT: CENTRAL BANK OF BOLIVIA PARTICIPATION IN THE ELECTRONIC CLEARING HOUSE

Ladies and Gentlemen:

The Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB) notifies the participating entities of the Electronic Clearing House that:

In compliance with Board Resolution 130/2014, which approves the "Regulation for the direct sale of securities to natural persons through electronic means," the BCB will commence its direct securities sales operations remotely through a web-based sales system provided by the BCB. This operation will allow natural persons to settle purchases of BCB securities via electronic transfers (ACH).

To this end, the BCB became a participant in the Electronic Clearing House starting in December of the current year. In this context, participants in this Clearing House are reminded that they must accept transfer orders in favor of the BCB made by natural persons through electronic banking or on the platform at any agency or branch of their entities nationwide.

Attached is a brief guide explaining the information that must be registered in the required fields to process transfers to the BCB in order to settle securities purchase operations.

Following the specific procedures of your financial entity, register the following information in the corresponding fields:

  • DESTINATION FINANCIAL ENTITY: Central Bank of Bolivia
  • BENEFICIARY NAME: Central Bank of Bolivia
  • BENEFICIARY ACCOUNT TYPE: This field is optional. You may select the "Checking Account" or "Savings Account" option.
  • BENEFICIARY ACCOUNT NUMBER: In this field, enter only the Unique Purchase Code provided by the client.
  • OPERATION TYPE: Select the "Others" option if available, or the "Checking Account/Savings Account" option.
