Amendments to Guideline on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism (For Authorized Institutions)

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority issued revised Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism Guidelines for Authorized Institutions following an industry consultation. These amendments, published in the Gazette, become effective on 1 June 2023 and require institutions to implement appropriate measures consistent with a risk-based approach. The regulator has made the revised guideline, consultation conclusions, and a marked-up version available on its website for immediate review and compliance.

The revised AML/CFT Guideline will be effective on 1 June 2023. Authorized institutions (AIs) should review the revised AML/CFT Guideline and implement appropriate measures, consistent with the risk-based approach.
