The Banking Regulation and Policy Department clarifies that the phrase 'less than one digit (i.e., less than 10%)' in Circular Letter No. 13/2015 refers to a spread of less than 5%. Scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh are required to limit the spread between the weighted average interest rates on loans and deposits, excluding credit cards and consumer loans, to within 5%.
