Central Bank of Jordan Circular No. 2/2025 Regarding Bank Working Hours During Ramadan

The Central Bank of Jordan mandates that official working hours for banks operating in the Kingdom during Ramadan be from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with public counter services restricted to 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Specific schedules are established for the RTGS-JO system, including a liquidity period from 2:45 PM to 3:15 PM, and a Jordanian Dinar deposit window from 3:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Banks may extend hours at their discretion but must notify the Central Bank in advance regarding the extended hours and affected branches.

Circular to Banks Operating in the Kingdom No. (2/2025)

Greetings,

On the occasion of the approaching holy month of Ramadan, please be informed of the following:

  1. The official working hours for banks operating throughout this blessed month shall be from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

  2. Public counter services shall commence at 9:30 AM and conclude at 2:30 PM.

  3. The daily working hours for the Real-Time Gross Settlement System – Jordan (RTGS-JO) shall be as follows: a. The period for exchanging bilateral transfers between members begins at 9:15 AM and ends at 2:45 PM. b. The receipt of net result files from retail payment systems for settlement purposes on the system begins at 9:30 AM and ends at 2:42 PM. c. The liquidity period begins at 2:45 PM and ends at 3:15 PM. During this period, only transfer orders necessary to cover pending orders in queues or existing daytime repurchase operations shall be processed. d. The working day in the system ends at 3:15 PM.

  4. The window for receiving deposits in Jordanian Dinar shall be from 3:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

  5. The Bankers' Fund at the Central Bank shall begin dealing with operating banks for cash withdrawal and deposit purposes from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Compliance with the specified deadlines is requested as a matter of utmost importance.

  6. Banks are permitted, at their discretion, to extend official working hours and/or evening hours during the holy month of Ramadan to provide banking services to customers, provided that the bank returns to its regular schedule after the blessed month concludes. We emphasize the necessity of notifying us in advance regarding working hours during this month and the names of branches/offices whose hours will be extended.
