Financial entities must alert automated teller machine (ATM) users about necessary precautions, including selecting a secure personal identification number (PIN), keeping the PIN confidential, and verifying transaction receipts. These recommendations must be communicated to new account holders at account opening and to existing users via their first or second account statement after the circular's issuance. Additionally, financial entities are required to display visible signs at ATM locations outlining these user precautions.

Recommendations to Automated Teller Machine Users
We address you to inform you that, in order to avoid problems arising from their use, you must alert ATM users about the precautions they must take.
Regarding this, we point out that you must inform them about the need to adopt, at a minimum, the following safeguards:
retrieve the receipt that the machine delivers upon finishing the operation, which will serve for any eventual subsequent claim.
The notification of these recommendations must be made at the time of opening the account that implies the delivery of a card to be used in ATMs.
When it concerns users who already participate in the service, these warnings will be made to them when sending their first or second account statement after the issuance of this communication, without prejudice to making subsequent reminders if considered convenient.
Likewise, they must place - visibly in the places where ATMs are located - signs with the precautions that users of the system must adopt.
We greet you very respectfully.
