Credit Rating Companies (Repeal) Rules, 2022

Whereas, under Section 32 of the Credit Rating Companies (Establishment) Act, 1996 (Act No. 19 of 1996), it is expedient to repeal the Credit Rating Companies (Establishment) Rules, 1996, made under Section 13 of the said Act;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 32 of the Credit Rating Companies (Establishment) Act, 1996, the following rules are hereby made, namely:

1. Short title and commencement.
   (1) These rules may be called the Credit Rating Companies (Repeal) Rules, 2022.
   (2) These rules shall come into force at once.

2. Definitions.
   (1) Unless the context otherwise requires, the Credit Rating Companies (Establishment) Act, 1996 shall apply.

(a) "Credit Rating Company" means a company registered under the Companies Act, 1994, and includes a company registered under the Credit Rating Companies (Establishment) Act, 1996, but does not include a company registered under the Credit Rating Companies (Establishment) (Establishment) Rules, 2022; and (b) "Companies Act, 2022" means the Companies Act, 2022, and "Credit Rating Company" means a credit rating company established under the Companies Act, 2022, and the Credit Rating Companies (Establishment) Act, 1996 shall not apply to such companies.

The Credit Rating Companies (Repeal) Rules, 2022 are hereby published for general information.
