CVM Deliberation 498 establishes the Educational Advisory Committee to propose and support financial education projects, review existing initiatives, suggest regulatory acts for investor protection, and foster partnerships. The Committee comprises CVM representatives and two permanent members from specified financial industry entities, with provisions for inviting auxiliary members and external representatives. THE PRESIDENT OF THE SECURITY AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION OF BRAZIL – CVM, pursuant to Article 8, Paragraph 3, Item II of Law No. 6,385, of December 7, 1976, makes public that the Collegiate Body, in a meeting held on this date,
DELIBERATED:
I - To create the Educational Advisory Committee (Committee), with the objective of: a) proposing and supporting the development of projects that contribute to promoting better standards of financial education for the population, thereby aiming at the development of the securities market; b) providing opinions on educational initiatives already developed by other institutions, with a view to their improvement and compatibility with best international practices; c) suggesting regulatory acts that contribute to facilitating the understanding by the general public of investors' rights, as well as strengthening their protection; and d) proposing the establishment of partnerships, agreements, or other cooperation mechanisms, with public and private entities, national or foreign, that contribute to the financial education of the population.
II – The Committee shall be composed of CVM representatives and two representatives from each of the following bodies, considered permanent members: Brazilian Association of Publicly Held Companies – ABRASCA, National Association of Investment Banks – ANBID, National Association of Financial Market Institutions – ANDIMA, Association of Analysts and Investment Professionals of the Capital Markets - APIMEC NACIONAL, Commodities & Futures Exchange - BM&F, São Paulo Stock Exchange – BOVESPA, Brazilian Institute of Investor Relations – IBRI, and National Institute of Investors – INI. II – The Committee shall be composed of CVM representatives, who shall coordinate the work, and two representatives (primary and alternate) from each of the following entities, considered permanent members: Brazilian Association of Publicly Held Companies – ABRASCA, Brazilian Association of Financial and Capital Markets Entities – ANBIMA, National Association of Securities, Foreign Exchange and Commodities Brokers – ANCOR; Association of Analysts and Investment Professionals of the Capital Markets - APIMEC NACIONAL, Stock, Commodities & Futures Exchange - BM&FBovespa, Brazilian Institute of Investor Relations – IBRI, and National Institute of Investors – INI.

III - The Committee may invite, to participate in its meetings, persons or entities representative of society that contribute to the achievement of its objectives, as well as propose to the CVM Collegiate Body alterations to the list of members established in the preceding item. IV – The Committee shall deliberate on its functioning and the conduct of its work, from which proposals may result to be forwarded to the CVM Collegiate Body. V – Participation of representatives in the Committee is voluntary and unpaid, and the CVM shall provide the institutional support and the necessary material and human resources for its implementation. VI – Educational projects originating from proposals from the Committee shall be financed and conducted in the manner deliberated by the institutions that comprise it, observing the legislation applicable to each of them. VII - This Deliberation enters into force on the date of its publication.
