Debit Card Interchange Fees and Routing

The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System is extending the public comment period for its proposed rulemaking on Debit Card Interchange Fees and Routing. The original proposal sought to clarify that debit card routing requirements apply to card-not-present transactions and to standardize terminology under Regulation II. The Board is granting a 30-day extension, moving the deadline for comments from July 12, 2021, to August 11, 2021, to allow interested parties additional time to analyze the proposal.
