Deferral of Certain Financial Disclosure Expectations Under the Climate Risk Management Guideline

Notice relating to the deferral of certain financial disclosure expectations under the Climate Risk Management Guideline (the “Guideline”) To reduce regulatory burden and ensure Canada-wide harmonization, the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is deferring certain financial disclosure expectations in the Guideline indefinitely. This disclosure relief pertains specifically to the provisions set out in Annex 1 – Minimum climate￾related financial disclosure expectations under “b) iii” of the “Metrics and targets” disclosure category. The disclosures, which were initially to be implemented in 2029, concern financed emissions related to off-balance sheet assets under management. The AMF still expects authorized financial institutions to continue to quantify and manage their climate-related transition risks, including for off-balance sheet assets under management. With this disclosure relief, the AMF is allowing authorized financial institutions more time to strengthen data collection and measurement. The deferral is effective as of the date of publication of this notice and will remain in effect until the AMF modifies the terms of the deferral.
