The Hong Kong Monetary Authority issued this circular to allow authorized institutions to request extensions for statutory filing deadlines due to operational disruptions caused by the novel coronavirus outbreak. Institutions anticipating difficulties in meeting the four-month or six-month timelines for audited accounts under Section 60 of the Banking Ordinance must apply in writing as soon as practicable. The Authority will evaluate these requests based on the specific impact of the pandemic on each institution's operations and may also discuss extensions for disclosure requirements under the Banking (Disclosure) Rules.
